The High Commission of India in Singapore welcomed High Commissioner-designate P Kumaran yesterday as he assumed charge of his new post.
They also welcomed new Deputy High Commissioner Siddhartha Nath and bid farewell to outgoing DHC Ninad Deshpande.
HE Kumaran replaced outgoing high commissioner Jawed Ashraf, who recently took office as the Ambassador of India to France.
HE Kumaran (IFS batch of 1992) previously served as the Ambassador of India to Qatar at Doha for more than three-and-a-half years since October 2016.
An IITian from Madras, HE Kumaran did his BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from 1986 to 1990, before he joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1992.
He served as the Deputy High Commissioner at the High Commission of India in Colombo from September 2011 to July 2014.
Earlier HE Kumaran has also served in the High Commission of India in Islamabad and the Embassy of India in Washington.
