The first open house at the historic India House of Singapore was a memorable event with visitors making a beeline to see this majestic building which houses the Indian High Commission of Singapore. There were multiple and inclusive events for adults and kids curated and organised at the venue by the Innovation Design Forum (IDF) Singapore.
Visitors were mesmerised by the beauty of Rangoli, which is a traditional Indian art form of creating colourful design motifs. A workshop on Rangoli was also conducted in which both kids and adults enthusiastically participated. The evening featured an exhibition of floral installations, live music, and a talk by Chan Wai Lim of Trigger Design Studio on the 'Magic of Collaborations' based on the studio's collection produced in partnership with Indian product design company Arttdinox, and shown at Singaplural (Singapore Design Week).
H.E. Jawed Ashraf, High Commissioner of India to Singapore also graced the occasion. He held conversation with Steven Siow, the principal architect who was in charge of the complete renovation of the historic India House. Steven also made a presentation of this renovation and conservation at the open house. An antique sarong textile exhibition was also organised at the venue.
