India emerged the big winners in the Asian Academy Creative Awards (AAA) Gala Final, held in the Lion City, where the best of the region’s content industry gather each December since 2018.
Singapore’s historic Victoria Theatre played host, on two star-studded nights, to Asia Pacific’s most prestigious Awards for Creative Excellence held on 6 and 7 December 2019.
India celebrated the two-night award showcase with 6 wins for the country – on the OTT platform, in a movie and in a cartoon series.
Netflix series 'Delhi Crime' clinched four awards:
- Best Drama Series
- Best Actress In A Leading Role for Shefali Shah
- Best Original Programme By A Streamer/OTT
- Best Direction (fiction) for Richie Mehta
Gully Boy won the inaugural Best Feature Film underlining India’s strong presence at the AAA. India’s International Oscar entry “Gully Boy” gets strong validation before it is showcased at the Oscars.
Cartoon Network’s animated series “Lamput” gave India its sixth national win at the awards showcase, giving the Indian delegation a night to celebrate.
Indonesia, Myanmar, China, Korea, Malaysia and host Singapore also had reason to celebrate with exciting wins over the two-nights.
The participating countries in the Asian Academy Creative Awards include Australia & New Zealand, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.
