Unable to bear the pangs of separation from his family, a 45-year-old Indian man committed suicide in Dubai by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his relative’s apartment. His family had to return to India due to his poor financial situation.
The deceased, identified as Al Farashan Jacob, worked in a company in Dubai as a GPS technician.
A police team comprising of forensic experts, patrols, crime scene officers and ambulance rushed to the place but the person was already dead. Police gathered fingerprints, evidence and inspected the phone of the deceased. Later, the body was sent to the forensic laboratory for autopsy.
Police interrogated the roommate of the deceased, who happened to be Jacob’s relative, and some other people in the area.
Reddy Jacob, brother of the deceased, told a Dubai-based newspaper that he believed that his brother committed suicide because he had to stay apart from his family, which included his wife, two daughters and a son. He sent them to India last month as it was difficult for him to support them with his low income. Jacob felt devastated and lonely as he was very attached to his children and wife.
