Dasari Gopikrishna, a 32-year-old Indian who arrived in the United States of America just eight months ago, has been identified as one of the victims of the convenience store shooting in Texas on June 21.
Gopikrishna, who was from Bapatla district in Andhra Pradesh, southern India, was shot during an armed robbery at the convenience store adjoining a fuel station in Pleasant Grove, Dallas, Texas.
Critically injured, he was rushed to a nearby hospital, but died on Sunday morning while undergoing treatment. Gopikrishna is survived by his wife and son.

Posting a photo of the victim on the social network X, former Andhra Pradesh student leader P Muralidhar Rao, now a BJP member, wrote: “My heartfelt condolences go out to his family. Rest assured, the Government of Andhra Pradesh will provide all necessary support to bring him back home. We stand firmly with the family during this tough time and pray that they find the strength to cope with their loss.”
Indian Consul General DC Manjunath, who was in Dallas for a Yoga Day event on Sunday, confirmed to the Press Trust of India that the incident was unrelated to a shooting in Arkansas as previously reported by various sources.
Expressing condolences to Gopikrishna’s family, Manjunath said, “We are deeply saddened to learn about the tragic demise of Indian national Gopikrishna Dasari in a robbery shooting incident at Pleasant Grove, Dallas, TX, and are in touch with local family members.”
The consulate, with support from Indian associations, is providing all possible assistance to facilitate the repatriation of Gopikrishna’s body to India following local formalities, including autopsy and death certificates.
