Dr. Divya Sistla, an endocrinologist from the US who originally hails from Telangana, has received a very prestigious honour — the title of Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP). This is one of the highest recognitions in the field of internal medicine and shows her outstanding work in endocrinology, medical research, and education.

Dr. Sistla completed her MBBS from Kamineni Institute of Medical Sciences in Telangana. Currently, she works as a leading Endocrinologist and Obesity Medicine Specialist at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.
She is board-certified in internal medicine, endocrinology, and obesity medicine. Her work mainly focuses on treating complicated hormonal issues like diabetes, thyroid problems, PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), osteoporosis, and Cushing’s syndrome.
Apart from treating patients, she also teaches medical students and young doctors as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh. She plays an active role in various committees that focus on patient safety and the well-being of doctors, showing her dedication to improving healthcare in every possible way.
Dr. Sistla expressed that getting the FACP title is a very meaningful moment in her career. She said she feels proud as an Indian-origin doctor working in the U.S. and wants to continue sharing medical knowledge between countries to benefit patients everywhere.
Her research work is equally impressive. She has studied a wide range of topics in endocrinology, including adrenal and pituitary gland problems and obesity. One of her most appreciated studies showed how telemedicine — where doctors consult patients through video calls — can help improve diabetes care.
Another important research paper, published in the Journal of the Endocrine Society, focused on the long-term stability of a condition called non-functioning pituitary adenomas.
