Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday took a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam (the meeting point of Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati rivers) in the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela or the Great Pitcher Festival which has drawn millions across India and abroad since it began on January 13 at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.

Modi wore track pants and presumably a saffron sweatshirt with religious beads dangling from his neck to take the holy bath.

According to reports, the Prime Minister offered his prayers after taking position at a considerable depth of the river amid heightened security in the city of Prayagraj.

Earlier, he was seen travelling in a jetty with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to the Maha Kumbh.

The Prime Minister took the holy dip days after at least 30 people were killed and 60 others injured in a stampede which took place at the festival.
