The 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League will kick off on September 19. The 13th season of the cash rich league has been shifted out of India due to the coronavirus pandemic and will be held in the UAE.

KKR lose pacer Harry Gurney
Nottinghamshire fast bowler Harry Gurney, who plays for the Kolkata Knight Riders, has been ruled out of the 2020 IPL season due to a shoulder injury.
Gurney is scheduled to undergo an operation next month and has said that he will not be travelling to the UAE to join his IPL squad. The pacer has played 8 games for KKR and taken seven wickets.
Delhi Capitals’ Jason Roy opts out of IPL
England opening batsman Jason Roy, who plays for the Delhi Capitals, has opted out from IPL 2020 due to personal reasons. The franchise has replaced him with Australian pacer Daniel Sams.
Roy, who has also been ruled out of the upcoming T20I series between England and Pakistan, was bought by Delhi Capitals for his base price of INR 1.5 crore. He is the second Englishman to withdraw from the IPL after Chris Woakes.
Woakes was also meant to play for the Capitals and has been replaced by South African pacer Anrich Nortje.
Delhi head coach arrives in UAE
Delhi Capitals may have had to replace two of its players, but their head coach, former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting, has arrived to take charge of the team in Dubai.
Ponting landed on Thursday and went straight into the mandatory quarantine of 6 days.
“My view for the next 6 days, hotel quarantine is officially underway,” he tweeted from his hotel room.
Also joining the squad is newly appointed bowling coach Ryan Harris.
