The Motion Picture Association has rated “Joker: Folie à Deux” as ‘R’ for ‘some strong violence, language throughout, some sexuality and brief full nudity’, media reports said.
This is in line with the original “Joker”, which was rated R for ‘strong bloody violence, disturbing behaviour, language and brief sexual images’, reported Variety.
Joaquin Phoenix once again looks to deliver as he prepares to reprise his role of Joker.
This time, singer Lady Gaga will team up with him for the second movie of the franchise.
She will be playing the character of Joker’s twisted lover Harley Quinn, an iconic role in the world of superhero movies.
Directed by Todd Phillips, the movie also features actors Zazie Beetz, Catherine Keener and Brendan Gleeson.
Though plot details are being kept under wraps, Variety exclusively revealed in March that the film will mostly be a jukebox musical, integrating at least 15 reinterpretations of well-known songs.
After clinching the Golden Lion at the 2019 Venice Film Festival, Joker raked in over USD 1 billion worldwide.
The movie even bagged 11 nominations in 2020 Oscars.
Phoenix won the best actor Oscar for his portrayal of Arthur Fleck, aka the Joker, in the first movie.
Meanwhile, director Todd Phillips released a new poster of the movie, giving a hint to movie lovers about what they might expect from it.
In the poster, Gaga and Joaquin could be seen in a dancing posture.
The trailer of the movie is slated to release on April 9.
“First trailer coming April 9. #jokermovie,” Todd Phillips wrote on Instagram.
