The comedic collaboration of Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover seems to be reaching the end of the road after the latest quarrel between the two went viral on social media. The midair incident between the two while on a plane back from Melbourne and the subsequent dialogue has been well-publicised.
While Kapil, the host of ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’, a comedy sketch programme that also stars Sunil Grover, is confident that the latter will return, Grover’s Facebook and Twitter posts say otherwise.
Kapil posted a long clarification on Facebook on Monday about his fight with Sunil Grover and later apologised on Twitter as well, however, Sunil was absent from the Monday night shoot of the show and stated his desire to leave in a long Twitter post. Kapil claimed after the plane altercation that he ‘shouted at him (Sunil) first time in 5 years’, but the duo had split in 2014 on ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’. While neither has given a reason for their separation, talk of friction between the two has been increasing in recent years. Only time will make clear whether this latest spat is temporary or permanent.
Sunil had said in his tweet, “Bha ji! Yes, You hurt me deeply. Working with you has been a learning experience. Just one advice start respecting human beings also apart from animals…You are the wittiest, and the best in your field. But don’t act like a ‘God’. Take good care of yourself. Wish you lot more success and fame.” This was said to be in response to Kapil's apology tweet on Monday morning.
The channel representatives are trying to ensure the show goes on and the team stays intact. However, multiple media sources have reported friction between Sharma and the rest of the cast on his show, including Chandan Prabhakar and Kiku Sharda.
