The Federation Square hosts the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) every year. This year the festival will celebrate India’s Independence Day and its 10th year with a flag hoisting ceremony by Bollywood filmmaker and producer Karan Johar.

“I’m looking forward to celebrating Indian Independence Day in one of the world’s most vibrant multicultural cities, Melbourne… It’s truly an honour for me to be the one this year to hoist our tricolour at the landmark in Melbourne,” said Johar.

Also present for the flag hoisting ceremony will be the High Commissioner of India in Australia, Dr. A.M Gondane and the Mayor of Melbourne, Sally Capp.
