Singapore's Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam announced in a Facebook post that he will be making a ministerial statement in Parliament about the government's position on the City Harvest Church ruling.
The issue was "a serious matter," Shanmugam said in the post published on Thursday, Feb 1.
Earlier that day, Singapore's apex court had ruled that the six former church leaders were to serve their shorter jail term. The prosecution's appeal to reinstate the original convictions and sentences were rejected.
Following the court's decision, the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) announced that it will work with the relevant ministries on "the appropriate revisions to the Penal Code."
The next Parliament sitting will be held on Feb 5.
