Making vibrant leisure spaces out of something as businesslike as shipping containers has become a trend — now Singapore gets such a space of its own at Cosford Container Park, which opens on January 29, 2024.
Its address, 30 Cosford Road, is close to Changi International Airport’s runway; that means visitors to this massive food and beverage (F&B) park can get thrilling views of planes taking off and landing.
Covering about 35,000 sq. ft and with 340 seats for indoor and outdoor dining, Cosford Container Park is Singapore’s largest outdoor F&B container park.
Shipping containers being retrofitted to create buzzing food, retail, and art hubs has earlier been seen in world cities such as London and Dubai, and also in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
In the United Kingdom and the Middle East, these leisure complexes go by the trade name ‘Boxpark’, the brand founded by Roger Wade. The first Boxpark came up in Shoreditch, London, in 2011.
Singapore’s Cosford Container Park has much to offer by way of cuisine choices — Indian, Korean, Thai, English, seafood, barbeque, and more. Live performances and games round up the visit.
Punggol East Container Park has already introduced the people of Singapore to this kind of an experience, but the proximity to Changi Airport is one of the top draws of Cosford Container Park — it is located just outside the airport’s western perimeter road.
According to a CNA report, Cosford Container Park opens with the following vendors:
- Hello Butter Chicken
- School Of Cambridge
- The Blue Lobster
- Let’s BBQ Bar
- Boon Tat Street Seafood
- [Eat That Chicken]
- Streets Of Bangkok
- The Slice House
- JJ Games
- Tarts Man
- Cluny & Luk’ers
- Creamy Duck
- Ishiro
A free shuttle serves the public daily from 5pm to 11pm, from Upper Changi Road North to the park. Shuttle frequency is every 10 minutes, and the shuttle bus stop is Opp St John’s Cres (ID 97079) Upper Changi Road North, according to a post on the official Instagram page of Cosford Container Park.
Opening hours are 11am to 1am on weekdays; 8.30am to 1am on weekends and public holidays, said the CNA report.
In a media release, Ant Tee, Director of Tee Tree Investments, developers of the new F&B park, said: “We are thrilled to launch Cosford Container Park, Singapore’s largest outdoor F&B container park in Changi, marking a new chapter in the F&B landscape.”
