Former Chinese Premier Li Keqiang died of heart attack on Friday (October 27, 2023) in Shanghai, local media reports said.
He was 68.
Li recently had a rest in Shanghai. On October 26, Li had a sudden heart attack and passed away at 00:10 on October 27 after all rescue measures failed, reported Chinese news agency Xinhua.
He served as the Premier of the People's Republic of China from 2013 to 2023.
Li was also the second-ranked member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) from 2012 to 2022.
Li was a major part of the "fifth generation of Chinese leadership" along with Xi Jinping, the CCP general secretary.
