Artists from several Corona affected nations have come together virtually, with a song for solidarity called 'Life Again'.
'Life Again' is an international collaboration of 20 eminent musicians from across the globe performing to specially composed music during COVID-19.
The artists from Italy, UK, USA, Iran, Palestine, China, Middle East, France, and of course from India, performed as well as did the recording at their respective homes in their own countries. The videos were then combined and edited to form an around 6-minute long enchanting performance.
Sri Ganapathi Sachidananda Swamiji, a renowned Indian spiritual leader has been gracious enough to not just write the lyrics but also recite them at the beginning of this musical video.
The song composed to an ancient Indian Raga, Charukeshi, conveys the bhava or emotion of distress and loss but ends in a positive note.
The objective of the video is to show that while music does not flow from concert halls, it has not ceased to wield its magic and that it continues to bring communities together more than ever before.
As the world continues to reel under the impact of the coronavirus, the artist community world over has been badly hit due to the cancellation of concerts and festivals. The 20 distinguished Global Musicians have come together and created a melody to prove that while this is a time for social distancing it definitely is not a time for emotional distancing.
Four of the Indian musicians featured here are prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi awardees as is Violin Maestro, Dr. Mysore Manjunath who has conceptualized & composed the music for 'Life Again'.
This music video is part of an initiative to encourage artists to showcase their artistic work during these COVID-19 times, by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), which has previously conducted an online art exhibition as well as an essay competition.
