Makers dropped a hint of what fans can expect from the next ‘Superman’ movie that is scheduled to release next year, by releasing the trailer of the much-awaited superhero film recently.

‘Superman’, directed by James Gunn, will feature David Corenswet playing the role of ‘Man of Steel’ for the first time in his career, replacing Henry Cavill.

Cavill has played the character in multiple movies since appearing in 2013’s Man of Steel.

This will mark the first Superman movie made after a new era began in DC with writer-director Gunn and producer Peter Safran taking over in 2022.

The trailer, which shows Superman crashing to the ground in an icy backdrop, did not highlight much of the plot.

It shows Superman’s superdog Krypto coming to his rescue.

The trailer showed that Rachel Brosnahan will play the character of Lois Lane while Nicholas Hoult will be seen as the deadly bald Lex Luthor, the archenemy of Superman.

Who is David Corenswet?

David Corenswet, the man who will be seen playing the iconic superhero character, previously appeared in the Netflix series The Politician (2019–2020) and Hollywood (2020).

He starred in the films Look Both Ways and Pearl, and the HBO miniseries We Own This City (all 2022). In 2024, he had supporting roles in the film Twisters and the miniseries Lady in the Lake.

Release date

The movie will hit the cinema halls on July 11.

All eyes will be on the ‘Superman’ movie since the makers would aim to turn their fortune after several of their latest releases like Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman 1984 and Joker: Folie à Deux – part of the wider DC stable failed to make an impressive mark on the Box Office.
