Indian shooters Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh made the country proud by winning the bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team shooting event of the Paris Olympics on Tuesday.
Manu became the first Indian shooter to win two medals in the same Olympics.
Manu had won the bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event earlier.
Maintaining composure and showing a brilliant display of their skills, Manu and Sarabjot Singh took an 8-2 lead after fifth series.
Their South Korean opponents narrowed the gap to 10-6 after the eighth series but the Indian duo showed maturity and determination to grab the bronze medal.
This is Sarabjot Singh’s first Olympic medal.
Manu is now the fourth Indian player after Norman Pritchard (athletics), Sushil Kumar (wrestling) and PV Sindhu (badminton) to win multiple medals for India at a Summer Games.
No Indian athletes, however, won multiple medals in a single Olympics like Manu did in Paris.
Congratulating the duo, Indian PM Narendra Modi posted on X: ” Our shooters continue to make us proud!”
“Congratulations to @realmanubhaker and Sarabjot Singh for winning the Bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the #Olympics. Both of them have shown great skills and teamwork. India is incredibly delighted,” he said
“For Manu, this is her second consecutive Olympic medal, showcasing her consistent excellence and dedication. #Cheer4Bharat,” he wished the Indian players.
