Former Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza has recovered from the coronavirus. On Tuesday Mortaza informed his fans on social media that he is COVID-19 negative now but his wife continues to test positive.
Mortaza tweeted on Tuesday, "Hope everybody is well. Alhamdulillah. By the grace of God and with the blessings of all of you, the result of my coronavirus test is negative. Gratitude to all those who have been by my side all this time, who have prayed for me thanks a lot."
Mortaza who tested positive for COVID-19 three weeks ago underwent his treatment at home.
Two other Bangladeshi players, Nafees Iqbal and Nazmul Islam had also tested positive a few weeks ago but have since recovered.
Root rejoing England squad after paternity leave
England captain Joe Root is back in the squad after paternity leave. Root, who missed the first Test match against the West Indies last week, will lead his team in the 2nd Test at Old Trafford starting July 16.
After losing the 1st Test by 4 wickets, England is banking heavily on its captain for the next match. With a 1-0 lead in the series, the West Indies will be keen to win the 2nd Test and thus the series, which will be the first win in England for a Windies team in 32 years.
Australia set for Big Bash
The Twenty20 Big Bash League season will start in December, Cricket Australia has announced. The 10th edition of the league will begin on December 3 with the Adelaide Strikers hosting the Melbourne Renegades, followed by 60 matches across the country and the final on February 6.
According Big Bash chief Alistair Dobson, scheduling a tournament in times of a pandemic is full of uncertainties.
"There are factors outside the league itself which could impact (the schedule) at a later date," he said.
Interstate travel in Australia is currently restricted after new coronavirus cases were reported in Melbourne and Sydney. In December Australia will also be hosting India for a Test series followed by a one-day series.
