The gunfire erupted near the Amazura event hall at 91-12 144th Place in Jamaica, within the 103rd Precinct, around 11:45 pm, reported amny.com. Local reports suggest that two people are suspected to be involved in the incident. As per the New York Police Department (NYPD), the situation is active.

It was the third such incident in the United States within 24 hours. Earlier on Wednesday, January 1, at least 15 people lost their lives and over a dozen others suffered injuries after a speeding car rammed into the crowd during New Year 2025 celebrations on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.

According to reports, the person driving the car first rammed into the people present at the spot and then exited the vehicle and started firing bullets at them.

The man who rammed the car into the crowd was a US Army veteran. He served in the army from 2007 to 2020 as an HR and IT specialist.

Later in the day, a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas. The explosion killed the driver and left seven others injured.
