Following the killing of gangster-turned-politician by a trio posing as journalists, the Indian government is set to prepare a set of guidelines for the media on the direction of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to sources, the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to prepare a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the safety of journalists in the wake of the killing.
Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were killed in Prayagraj Saturday night while they were speaking to reporters. The two brothers were shot dead at point-blank range by the three men posing as journalists in the middle of a media interaction on Saturday night while police personnel were escorting them to a medical college for a checkup.
The shooters and one more associate surrendered to the policemen immediately after firing several rounds using semi-automatic pistols. The three youths were transferred to Pratapgarh district jail today from Prayagraj.
