Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates beginning Tuesday. On this trip, he will hold wide-ranging talks with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and inaugurate the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi.
The prime minister of India will also meet with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister and Defence Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Dubai is the venue for the World Government Summit (February 12-14, 2024) and PM Modi is set to deliver a special keynote address there.
Abu Dhabi will see him attending the ‘Ahlan Modi’ event being organised on February 13 by Indian expats in Abu Dhabi, a day before the BAPS Hindu Mandir Abu Dhabi opening on February 14.
Announcing the trip yesterday, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that this would be the prime minister’s seventh visit to the UAE since 2015.
Modi and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed will discuss ways to further deepen, expand, and strengthen the strategic partnership between the countries and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, said the MEA.
“At [the UAE president’s] invitation, the prime minister will participate in the World Government Summit 2024, to be held in Dubai, as the guest of honour and deliver a special keynote address at the summit,” the MEA said in a statement.
“The prime minister will inaugurate the BAPS Mandir, the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi. He will also be addressing the Indian community in the UAE at an event in Zayed Sports City [stadium] in Abu Dhabi,” it added.
