NETS Singapore has cited "inadvertent human error" during a system maintenance as the reason for an hour-long service outage on Feb 2.
The company said in a press statement on Feb 13 that investigations into the incident has been completed, and stressed that it was not due to any systemic risk or security issues.
“We have completed investigations into the cause of the incident and concluded that the incident resulted from an inadvertent human error during system maintenance which disrupted Nets EFTOPS connection to our participating banks," according to the statement. “Nonetheless such an error should not have occurred.”
Local news platform Todayonline reported that NETS has declined to comment on the details of the incident or whether any staff is involved.
Earlier this month on Feb 2, from 2pm to 3pm, all cashless services provided by Nets were unavailable. Thousands of customers were affected and had to turn to cash payments at food and beverage outlets, supermarkets, and hawker centres.
