Former Governor of South Carolina, Nikki Haley, took to X to share an emotional note about her deceased father, who died on Father’s Day, June 16.
Ajit Singh Randhawa, Haley’s father, passed away on Sunday.
The politician-diplomat took to X, erstwhile Twitter, to pen a tribute to her father, describing him as the “smartest, sweetest, kindest” human being. Haley also shared a photo of the two of them together.
What did Haley write?
“This morning I had to say goodbye to the smartest, sweetest, kindest, most decent man I have ever known. My heart is heavy knowing he is gone,” the 52-year-old wrote on X.
“He taught his kids the importance of faith, hard work, and grace. He was an amazing husband of 64 years, a loving grandfather and great grandfather, and the best father to his four children. He was such a blessing to all of us. Happy Father’s Day Dad. We will miss you dearly,” she stated.
As per reports, Haley’s father had previously been diagnosed with cancer. Both her parents, who migrated to rural South Carolina in 1969, were from affluent families in India.
Randhawa worked as a professor at Voorhees College, Denmark, South Carolina. Haley’s mother, Raj Kaur Randhawa, taught sixth-grade social studies and later became an entrepreneur.
Randhawa always supported Nikki in her political career. He was also present during the start of her presidential bid in Charleston in 2023.
In January, Haley paused her campaign and visited her ailing father, who was battling cancer.
The former SC governor, who was in the Republican presidential race, alongside former POTUS Donald Trump, announced her departure in March.
