A Norwegian lawmaker, Christian Tybring-Gjedde has nominated United States President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for 2021 for helping broker a deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
This is the second time this lawmaker, a member of parliament from the right-wing Progress Party, has put forward the American president’s name for the honour.
Thousands of people, including university professors, members of governments and parliaments, past laureates, are allowed to nominate candidates for the Peace Prize.
The final decision is taken by the Norwegian Nobel Committee.
Nominations for this year's award closed on January 31 and the winner will be announced on October 9 in Oslo.
