A former member of the Board of Governors for the Medical Council of India (2010-2011), Dr Sita Naik retired as Professor and Head, Department of Immunology and Dean, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow. It was a department she had planned and set up.
As an immunologist, Dr Naik has worked on the Hepatitis B & E virus (HEV) in North India. Many of her students are heading departments in leading institutions like PGIMER (Chandigarh), CMC (Vellore) and JIPMER (Puducheri) and working in many different parts of the world.
In this interview, Dr. Naik talks about the challenges in vaccine development, DNA, RNA vaccines, Monoclonal Antibody based therapies, plasma therapy, and much more. She also talks about immune boosters and whether they can protect us against the virus.
