It was the usual suspects who took home the golden statuette at Oscars 2024. Weeks prior to the mega event, actor Cillian Murphy and actress Emma Stone were touted as favourites to win the prestigious award and there was no shock when the names were announced at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday.
Murphy won his first Oscars for portraying the titular character in Oppenheimer, based on the life of physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer. Stone received it for her role in Poor Things. While other films won, the event was dominated by Oppenheimer, which won seven Oscars, including best actor, supporting actor and director, for Murphy, Robert Downey Jr and Christopher Nolan, respectively.
