United States President Donald Trump once again spoke about the possibility of a vaccine against COVID-19 being ready in the very near future.

Speaking at a town hall event hosted by ABC News, Trump said that with quick approval by US authorities, a vaccine could be ready within four weeks.

“The previous administration would have taken perhaps years to have a vaccine, because of the FDA and all the approvals," the president said. “We’re within weeks of getting it. You know, could be three weeks, four weeks."

His comment was in response to a man who told President Trump that he had been pleased with the president’s response to the pandemic until about May 1.

US public health authorities and medical experts have in the past expressed concern that the government is pressuring the FDA to approve a vaccine ahead of the November 3 presidential election.
