Rohit Sharma overlooked as skipper, Virat Kohli fails to find spot in Cricket Australia’s T20 World Cup all-star squad

The governing body for cricket in Australia, Cricket Australia, has named its all-star squad for the ongoing T20 World Cup tournament, whose final will be played on Saturday between India and South Africa. While three Indian cricketers, including skipper Rohit Sharma, have been named in the team, ace batter Virat Kohli missed out.

Based on his strong performance with the willow, Sharma was added to the team but surprisingly he was not named the skipper of the all-star squad.

Based on his strong performance with the willow, Sharma was added to the team but surprisingly he was not named the skipper of the all-star squad.

The other two Indian cricketers are Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah.

The dream moment of the tournament was surely Afghanistan beating Bangladesh and reaching the semi-finals of the marquee tournament for the first time.

The South Asian squad won hearts with the players putting up a strong show and beating several top teams, including New Zealand and Australia, on its way to reaching the super-four stage.

Keeping the performance in mind and the skill shown by Rashid Khan in utilising his resources, Cricket Australia named him as the skipper of its team.

Rashid showed a strong show with his bowling abilities and took 14 wickets in eight matches.

South Africa defeated Afghanistan in the semi-finals to reach the final and ended the team’s golden run in the tournament.

Apart from Rashid, Fazalhaq Farooqi, a promising Afghanistani pacer, also found a spot in the squad.

Apart from Afghanistan, the USA also put up a strong show in the tournament and shocked Pakistan.

The USA surprised many pundits to reach the Super 8 stage of the elite tournament, while Pakistan didn’t make it past the first round.

Aaron Jones found a berth in the squad for a promising show with the bat in the tournament.

The full squad is given below

Rohit Sharma, Travis Head, Nicholas Pooran, Aaron Jones, Marcus Stoinis, Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan (C), Rishad Hossain, Anrich Nortje, Jasprit Bumrah and Fazalhaq Farooqi.
