Salman Khan’s yearly Eid blockbuster is already a hit – and we’re still over a month away from the release date. The release of the teaser trailer for Tubelight yesterday, the Bollywood star’s upcoming release for June 23, already has his fans clamouring for more.
Salman makes his first appearance 55 seconds into the trailer and seems to be a soldier taking part in the 1962 war against China. There’s also a sequence where he displays superhuman abilities. Coupled with the fact that his character’s name is Laxman, it seems to point to more than a simple period war drama, which this film is billed as. The panoramic shots of Ladakh and Manali add to the splendour of the film and we get a brief glimpse of Chinese actress Zhu Zhu, who play’s Salman Khan’s love interest in her Bollywood debut, riding in a period car.
Of course, a young child, played by child actor Matin Rey Tangu in his debut, brings back shades of Bajrangi Bhaijaan. This is Salman and director Kabir Khan’s third collaboration after Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi.
Shah Rukh Khan is said to have a cameo in the film, but he’s nowhere to be seen in the cameo.
Salman has become synonymous with summer Eid holiday releases, with mega-hits such as Bajrangi, Kick (2014) and Ek Tha Tiger. Here’s hoping Tubelight goes the same way.
