It’s Bollywood 'Bhaijaan' – Salman Khan’s 51st birthday. One can understand if the celebrations are a few notches higher than usual as he tops the 2016 Forbes India Celebrity 100 list. The superstar has also launched his own app on his birthday through Twitter.
The estimated earnings of S$ 5.76 million are driven by the success of his recent films – ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ and ‘Sultan’. With this, Salman has dethroned Shah Rukh from the top spot.
The magazine claims that there has not been even a single year when either Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan has not been in its Celebrity 100 list. Shah Rukh has topped the list thrice and Salman has grabbed the spot twice. The other names that include the list are Virat Kohli, Akshay Kumar, and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Bollywood divas are not behind – Priyanka Chopra who’s running high on her ‘Quantico’ success has earned S$ 1.62 million, while Deepika Padukone who’s making waves with her international project – ‘xXx: Return of Xander Cage’ minted S$ 1.49 million, as reported by the magazine.
Criteria
The ranking in the Forbes list is based on two parameters: Estimates of entertainment-related earnings and estimates of fame during the period – October 2015 to September 2016.
Like every year, Salman Khan is on a three-day annual visit to his Panvel farmhouse, where he celebrates his birthday along with family and friends. On the work front, Salman will be soon shaking a leg in Australia. He’s travelling along with Sonakshi Sinha, rapper Baadshah, Daisy Shah among others for the ‘Da Bang’ concert at the Rod Laver arena in Melbourne.
