Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) has launched a new scheme to drive innovation among local enterprises and enhance the island’s diverse array of unique leisure offerings.
Aimed at driving innovation among local enterprises, the Sentosa x Enterprise scheme will create opportunities to test bed novel ideas, concepts, and technologies.
Businesses will be able to leverage the holiday island’s geographical attributes and environment, SDC said in a press statement.
Businesses will be able to benefit from a risk-sharing arrangement while working on projects that could boost Sentosa’s vibrancy and attractiveness. Successful applications will enjoy the co-sharing or waiver of venue rental, as well as support in terms of infrastructure and other facilitation resources.
In turn, the businesses’ innovation efforts are expected to help drive visitorship to Sentosa.
The focus areas for evaluation include connectivity, experience, sustainability and digital technologies. For example, the businesses can offer solutions on how to make intra-island commute more fun or convenient, amenities that accentuate the Sentosa’s unique setting, or initiatives to maintain Sentosa’s biodiversity. Technologies that could enhance guest experiences and boost productivity are also encouraged. For instance, local enterprises could come up with services that can be integrated into “mySentosa” app to facilitate guest needs or automation of island operations.
“A unique and leading holiday destination for more than 19 million visitors annually, Sentosa is an ideal testbed for innovators and companies to test the viability of business concepts and prototypes against the backdrop of the island’s diverse offerings and geographical attributes," said Chin Sak Hin, Assistant Chief Executive, SDC.
"The private sector has been an important partner in the success of Sentosa and Singapore’s tourism industry, and we look forward to continue this partnership with aspiring innovators and businesses as we take Sentosa to its next stage of growth.”
