Khalistani leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has issued a fresh threat of attacking temples, including the Ram Mandir in the north Indian city of Ayodhya, which was inaugurated by Indian PM Narendra Modi in January this year.
In a video released by the banned group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), Pannun could be heard threatening to attack Hindu temples on November 16 and 17.
Pannun could be heard as saying in the video: “We will shake the foundations of Ayodhya, the birthplace of the violent Hindutva ideology.”
The video also featured an image of Modi praying in the Ayodhya temple.
Who is Gurpatwant Singh Pannun?
Pannun works as the general counsel for the New York-based Sikhs for Justice, which is banned in India.
The group seeks to carve out an independent Sikh state from Punjab named Khalistan.
India designated Pannun as a terrorist in 2020.
He issued the threats at a time when Khalistani members attacked Hindu devotees outside a temple in Canada’s Brampton region last week.
Indian PM Narendra Modi had condemned the incident.
