Shah Rukh Khan tops list of celebrity taxpayers in India for FY 2023-24

Indian actor and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan topped the list of celebrity taxpayers with advance tax payment of INR 92 crore (USD 10,954,232) in 2023-24, followed by Tamil actor ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay at a distant second, according to a list compiled by Fortune India Magazine.

Fortune India’s ‘The Star Cast’ list is based on advance tax payments by celebrities and places film star Salman Khan in the third position and Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan in fourth place.

Virat Kohli paid INR 66 crore in advance tax in 2023-24 fiscal — making him the highest taxpayer among athletes in the country.

“Shah Rukh Khan tops the list of celebrity taxpayers in FY24 while Tamil superstar ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay moves ahead of the likes of Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Virat Kohli to emerge second (Advance Tax payment, FY24),” Fortune India said.

According to Fortune India, ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay paid an advance tax of INR 80 crore (USD 9,525,419), followed by Salman Khan’s INR 75 crore (USD 8,930,081), and Amitabh Bachchan’s INR 71 crore, (USD 8,453,810).

Many other well-known faces from the film and entertainment industry, including Ajay Devgn — INR 42 crore (USD 5,000,845), Ranbir Kapoor — INR 36 crore (USD 4,286,438), Hrithik Roshan — INR 28 crore (USD 3,333,896), Kapil Sharma — INR 26 crore (USD 3,095,761), Kareena Kapoor — INR 20 crore (USD 2,381,354), and Shahid Kapoor — INR 14 crore (USD 1,666,948), made it to the highest taxpayers list.

Actors Mohan Lal and Allu Arjun both paid advance taxes of INR 14 crore each, and Kiara Advani paid INR 12 crore (USD 1,428,812). Both Katrina Kaif and Pankaj Tripathi paid INR 11 crore (USD 1,309,745) advance tax, while Aamir Khan shelled out INR 10 crore in FY24.

From the world of cricket, M S Dhoni paid an advance tax of INR 38 crore (4,524,574), while legendary cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly paid INR 28 crore and INR 23 crore (USD 2,738,558), respectively, according to Fortune India list.

Hardik Pandya paid INR 13 crore (USD 1,547,880), while Rishabh Pant paid INR 10 crore in taxes.
