A new report from a global professional services firm Aon found that only 59 percent of employees in Singapore are engaged.
While the figure is unchanged from last year, it also makes them the least engaged in Asia.
Companies in Malaysia and the Philippines saw increased engagement by 4 and 6 percentage points respectively. Meanwhile, Indonesia improved by a whopping 15 points, at 76 percent, according to a report by ACN.
Employee engagement is highest in Indonesia, followed by India and the Philippines (both at 71 percent), China (69 percent), Thailand (64 percent), and Malaysia (63 percent).
Millennials in Singapore are also found to be the most at risk of disengagement. Only 56 percent of the full-time millennial workforce in Singapore are engaged.
"While there is no one-size-fits-all employee experience that will maximise engagement, forward-thinking organisations can identify the drivers that are most important for their employees and create a fit-for-purpose experience," said Boon Chong Na, Managing Director & Partner, Aon Hewitt Singapore. "What's more, increasing engagement is a shared responsibility – senior leadership must encourage their team members to own their engagement levels, by creating an environment where employees are empowered to develop new skills, chart their career journeys, and maximise their potential."
Aon analysed more than 8 million employees at over 1,000 organisations around the world for the 2018 Trends in Global Employee Engagement study.
