Singapore's Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations, S Iswaran visited New Delhi on June 19-20 in a bid to meet key counterparts and reaffirm the island nation's wide-ranging relationship with India.
“India and Singapore enjoy strong and close ties. We reaffirm our commitment to further strengthen cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, air and logistical connectivity, and smart city development,” said Mr. Iswaran.
The Minister met Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to discuss working on strengthening economic cooperation, especially in innovation and start-ups.
Mr. Iswaran also called on Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at her office on June 20.
India is a significant trading partner of Singapore, with total bilateral trade amounting to SGD26.4 billion in 2018. Singapore’s investments in India have also grown in the past decade, with Singapore becoming India’s largest investor in 2018.
