Singapore today reported a record total of 3,577 new cases of COVID-19 infection, including 630 in the migrant worker dormitories and 15 imported cases.
Amongst the local cases are 664 seniors who are above 60 years old. Three more cases have passed away from complications. They were female Singaporeans, aged between 68 and 102 years. All of them had been unvaccinated against COVID-19, and had various underlying medical conditions, Singapore's Ministry of Health (MOH) stated.
In total, 133 have passed away from complications due to COVID-19 infection. A nursing home and three dormitories housing migrant workers of labour intensive industries are being closely monitored as active COVID-19 clusters, officials said.
There are 1,520 patients warded in hospital, most of whom are well and under observation, said the MOH.
A total of 247 cases require oxygen supplementation, and 34 patients are in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU).
Meanwhile, the MOH has suspended visits to residential care homes for another two weeks until October 24, after several new COVID-19 clusters were detected in aged care facilities in the last two weeks.
As of yesterday, 83% of Singapore's population has completed their full regimen/ received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines, and 85% has received at least one dose.
