Starting today, 7 September 2024, Ministry of Education Primary, Secondary and Junior College/Millennia Institute students can choose to convert their student concession card (or School Smart Cards (SSC)) to a SimplyGo SSC, an official release from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) stated on Friday.
This comes after feedback from parents and students that they would like to have the option of converting their existing SSC to a SimplyGo SSC, to make it more convenient for parents to top up their children’s cards remotely via the SimplyGo app.
The conversion can be done at selected ticketing machines in all MRT stations and bus interchanges. With this, all commuters now have the option to convert their travel cards to SimplyGo. Conversion to SimplyGo is free. However, cardholders who wish to switch back to a non-SimplyGo SSC after conversion will need to return their SimplyGo SSC and purchase a new non-SimplyGo SSC for SGD 8.10.

The SimplyGo SSC can be registered and paired with the SimplyGo app (available on Android and iOS devices) for greater convenience. Other than remote top-ups, key benefits that parents and students can enjoy by converting the existing SSC to SimplyGo include the ability to:
- Purchase Monthly Concession Pass on the go, without needing the physical card;
- Automatically top-up SimplyGo concession card upon low balance, without needing the physical card; and
- Instantly block lost cards and arrange for remaining value to be refunded to a card/bank account.
Students will continue to enjoy the same subsidised fare for public transport and can continue to use the card for purchases at Smart Buddy Terminals in schools and retail purchases.
For any assistance with the card conversion process or with the SimplyGo app, parents/students may call the SimplyGo Hotline at 1800-2255 663 (8am – 6pm daily, excluding public holidays).
