“This SG United initiative encourages the public to Stay Safe – through vigilant monitoring of their health and regular temperature-taking. The Kiosk contains a contactless thermal device and detects the heat signature from the person’s forehead to provide a temperature reading in about 2 seconds,” said MCCY in a media release.

Till now, these kiosks could be found at 5 locations – Braddell MRT station, Boon Keng MRT station, Tiong Bahru MRT station, Bukit Panjang Bus Interchange and Serangoon Bus Interchange.

The MCCY also said that after a series of feasibility trials, conducted between February to March 2020, the feedback from user experiences was used to improve the usability and system design.

“As Singapore moves into Phase 2 of Safe Reopening, this initiative complements existing Safe Management Measures including for public transport, workplaces, schools, malls and community facilities to safeguard our overall public health,” MCCY said.

“While this would not detect asymptomatic cases, this initiative is to remind those with symptoms to stay at home and seek medical attention to keep Singapore safe,” the ministry added.
