A lift ride turned ugly for a retired IAS officer as he was assaulted during a physical confrontation at a gated society in Delhi NCR, northern India. The incident took place inside the Parx Laureate Society in Noida on October 30, 2023.
A video of the incident has since gone viral on the Internet. As per visuals, a man and a woman are seen blocking the entrance of the lift while engaged in an animated discussion.
Things go pear-shaped as the woman snatches the mobile phone out of the man’s hand and throws it outside the lift. A scuffle ensues as the man — later identified as a retired officer of the Indian Administrative Service — slaps the woman. Soon, another woman, who was inside the lift and hidden from view, leaps out with a dog in tow.
That wasn’t all. In the following clip, another man is seen approaching the retired officer and manhandling him. He lands a series of punches and corners the elderly man inside the lift. Fortunately for the retiree, officials from the building intervene and the two are separated.
This isn’t the first such instance of rage spiralling out of control between people, pertaining to the presence of a pet.
Earlier this year, a standoff between two parties was filmed inside a lift. Also taking place in Noida, the visual showed a couple getting into a verbal altercation with another woman, while objecting to matters concerning the latter’s pooch.
The couple was heard urging the dog’s owner to put the muzzle on the quadruped, which the pet owner refused. She even went as far as to say that she was better than the man’s wife during the argument.
While CtoI has not verified the exact details of the incidents and what triggered them in both the cases, this report is based on the videos that have gone viral.
