SP Group has partnered sustainable urban development and business space solutions provider Ascendas-Singbridge to provide high-speed electric vehicle (EV) charging points in its buildings.
Ascendas-Singbridge Group has installed 24 high-speed charging points for EVs in six of its buildings, according to a joint press statement on Monday, January 21.
These charging points are part of SP’s first wave of 38 charging points, including high-powered 50kW direct current (DC) chargers that can fully charge a car in 30 minutes.
The selected sites are in strategic locations, with easy access to a variety of amenities and food options. EV drivers can conveniently tap on SP Group’s charging service through the SP Utilities mobile application, where they can search for the nearest charging points, receive updates on their charging sessions and make payment.
“Through the partnership with SP Group, we are enabling our buildings to be future-ready, as we reach out to serve a growing pool of electric car drivers," said Mr Manohar Khiatani, Deputy Group CEO of Ascendas-Singbridge Group. "At the same time, we hope to play our part in creating a more sustainable environment by being a part of Singapore’s largest public charging Electric Vehicle network of the future.”
Mr Wong Kim Yin, Group CEO of SP Group, added, “We value our partnership with Ascendas-Singbridge Group as we build Singapore’s fastest and most pervasive EV charging network. This provides more convenient locations for our charging services, and will accelerate the adoption of green mobility in Singapore.”
In 2018, SP had unveiled plans to build Singapore’s largest and fastest public EV charging network, with 1,000 charging points island-wide by 2020. Ascendas-Singbridge is SP’s first major location partner for its EV charging network. More high-speed charging points will be installed at buildings managed by the group later this year.
The present six locations at Ascendas-Singbridge Group properties are 80 Bendemeer Road (Hyflux Innovation Centre), Corporation Place, Techlink, Techplace I, The Capricorn and The Kendall. The charging points started operations in phases since December 2018.
