In a new twist to the death of famous Indian actress Sridevi, Dubai Police have confirmed that their initial investigation shows that she drowned following loss of consciousness in the bathtub of her hotel room.
So far, it was reported that she died of cardiac arrest.
“Following the completion of post-mortem analysis, #DubaiPolice today stated that the death of Indian actress #Sridevi occurred due to drowning in her hotel apartment’s bathtub following loss of consciousness,” tweeted Dubai Police.
Dubai Police also found traces of alcohol in her body and this may have led to the accident.
It became a wild fire news in the media of United Arab Emirates and India who are closely following the developments associated with the death of Sridevi. The Bollywood actress enjoyed considerable fan following in India and abroad.
“The investigation is still ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident as the forensic report only says that she drowned,” an official said.
The police are trying to piece together the sequence of events and find out who was with her when the incident happened.
According to Khaleej Times, “Sridevi reportedly had a fainting spell in her bathroom and was immediately rushed to Rashid Hospital in Dubai. The hotel, however, refused to comment on the matter and an employee stated that it is under police investigation. Sources in the Indian Consulate said that she was brought dead to the hospital.”
Dubai Police have also released the forensic report on Sridevi's death to her family and the Indian Consulate representative.
Sridevi died in the Emirates Towers Hotel on Saturday. She reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest while she was taking a bath while getting ready for a dinner with her husband Boney Kapoor.
The Bollywood superstar was in Dubai for her nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding. She was joined by her younger daughter Khushi and husband, who flew back to India after the wedding on Wednesday and came back on Saturday to surprise his wife at the hotel where she was staying.
