The content of Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan’s address at the Technology, Entertainment and Design (TED) Talks two weeks ago was posted on Youtube today. During the course of his speech, SRK, 51, tampered the seriousness of his message with his trademark wit.
He is the first Indian actor to speak at TED Talks and touched upon his life and career, the perils of social media, and how humanity in general and he are both ‘aging actors’. SRK's presence at TED Talks attracted unusual crowds, news agencies reported earlier.
"I sell dreams and I peddle love to millions of people back home in India, who assume that I am the best lover in the world," he said.
The actor particularly focused on how social media has had an impact on the world, addressing the rumour that AbRam, his youngest child, was actually the son of his eldest son Aryan.
"Four years ago, my lovely wife Gauri and me decided to have a third child. It was claimed on the net that he was the love child of our first child, who was 15 years old. Apparently, he had sown his wild oats with a girl while driving her car in Romania. And yeah, there was a fake video to go with it. And we were so disturbed as a family. My son, who is 19 now, even now when you say 'hello' to him, he just turns around and says, 'But bro, I didn't even have a European driving license.'" He continued, "Reality became virtual and virtual became real. I started to feel that I couldn't be who I wanted to be or say what I actually thought. And humanity at this time completely identified with me. Both of us were going through mid-life crisis. Humanity, like me, was becoming an over-exposed prima donna."
"Everything I said took a new meaning, everything I did- good, bad, ugly was there for the world to comment upon and judge. Everything that I didn't say or do was met with the same fate," he added.
