Connected to India's spotlight is turned on Sunil Grover and Ranvir Shorey, Bollywood's method actors who are starring in the ZEE5 web series 'Sunflower'.
The Vikas Bahl-directed project is touted as a quirky murder mystery based in a housing society called Sunflower. Its simpleton resident Sonu, played by Grover, dives headlong into a murder mystery and becomes the chief suspect in the investigation headed by Inspector Digendra, Shorey's character.
"It's not like anything I've done in the past. 'Sunflower', for me, when I finished reading the script was like 'Alice in Wonderland'. You go down this rabbit hole into this housing society and it's just like a mad world in there with its oddball characters," Shorey told Connected to India.
The cast also includes Girish Kulkarni, Sonal Jha, Shonali Nagrani and Ashish Vidyarthi in pivotal roles. Produced by Reliance Entertainment and Good Co, the series is written by Vikas Bahl and co-directed by Rahul Sengupta and Vikas Bahl.
The series will launch today with all the episodes premiering on streaming service ZEE5.
