T20 World Cup: India post 176/7, Virat Kohli hits 76

After a quiet tournament, Virat Kohli once again proved his worth with an inning of 76 runs off 59 balls in the all-important final against South Africa. Choosing to bat first at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, India finished with 176 runs for the loss of seven wickets.

Apart from Kohli, Axar Patel and Shivam Dube shone with the bat, scoring 47 and 27 runs, respectively. Patel was at his belligerent best, hitting the Proteas bowlers for four sixes, as he stitched a partnership of 72 runs with Kohli.

Dube, who too had a quiet world cup, came in handy, striking three boundaries and a six in his 16-ball stay at the crease.

For South Africa, Keshav Maharaj and Anrich Nortje picked up two wickets each. Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada picked up one wicket each, while Patel was run out by Quinton de Kock.

South Africa will try to score the 177 runs and win their first ever world cup in cricket. For India, the bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, would hope to keep the Proteas batters at bay and add their fourth star on the blue jersey.
