Global aviation in 2024: Kuala Lumpur-Singapore slides to No. 4 on world’s busiest flight routes list, as Hong Kong-Taipei seizes No. 1 spot

The majority of routes in the Top 10 Busiest International Routes for 2024 are in Asia, seven routes in total. From other regions, one route is from Africa (Cairo to Jeddah), one from Europe and North America (New York JFK to London Heathrow) and two operate within the Middle East (Cairo to Jeddah and Dubai to Riyadh).

Japan Airlines recovers from cyber-attack; announces resumption of flights from Dec 27

Japan Airlines said that there was no virus in its system or any customer data leaks resulting from the cyber-attack. It had first noticed the problem this morning (around 7.25am in Japan) when snags began to crop up in its luggage check-in system. Acting quickly, the carrier suspended all ticket sales — domestic and international — for the rest of the day.

Air India and Singapore Airlines add 51 new codeshare destinations to their partnership

From 27 October 2024, Air India and SIA will codeshare on each other’s flights between Singapore and the Indian cities of Bengaluru and Chennai, increasing their total weekly scheduled codeshare services between the countries to 56 from 14.

Bomb scare: Air India Express flight makes emergency landing in UP’s Ayodhya 

A company spokesperson commented on the situation, stating, “Air India Express, along with a few other operators, received a specific security threat from an unverified social media handle. In response, security protocols were promptly activated as directed by the Government-appointed Bomb Threat Assessment Committee. The flight landed safely, and the aircraft will be released for operations following all mandated security procedures.”
