Even as companies replace human employees with Artificial Intelligence, validating fears of “AI will take our jobs”, new jobs are being created in the field of Artificial Intelligence itself.
A BBC report on DBS said: “The bank’s outgoing chief executive Piyush Gupta also said it expected to create around 1,000 new AI-related jobs.”
With less than five months left before the leadership transition at DBS, the group notched up a major achievement, as its third-quarter 2024 net profit crossed SGD 3 billion for the first time — the Q3 net profit rose 15 per cent from a year ago and 8 per cent from the previous quarter to reach SGD 3.03 billion.
When Tan becomes CEO, the DBS Group will have its first ever female chief executive. Her past roles have been at Morgan Stanley and Citigroup.
S Dhanabalan remains Emeritus Chairman of Mandai Park Holdings, an appointment he has held since November 16, 2023.
The transaction was made on May 3, just a day after DBS Group announced a rise in its net profit in the first quarter of 2024.
