Singapore NParks launches 100K Corals Initiative, an extensive tech-based marine conservation effort
Corals will be cultivated at a new coral culture facility at NParks’ Marine Park Outreach and Education Centre on St John’s Island, before being transplanted into the marine environment of Singapore, in order to restore degraded reefs or establish new coral communities.

New Bidadari Park, equal in size to 18 football fields, adds a large swathe of green serenity to Singapore
Minister Desmond Lee informed on Instagram: “Visitors can enjoy a total of 5.2km of experiential trails within the [Bidadari] Park – such as the Woodland Experiential Trail, which features clusters of majestic Tembusu and Ficus trees and the Adventure Playwoods, where children can also enjoy exploratory play in nature.”
South African man sentenced to 24 months’ imprisonment for smuggling 34.7 kg of rhinoceros horns worth SGD 1.2 million
The man was intercepted on 4 October 2022, at the Changi Airport by the National Parks Board. The government body seized 20 pieces of rhinoceros horns that were being smuggled through the facility.
