Billionaire Elon Musk is planning to pledge about USD 45 million a month to a newly formed super PAC backing former President Donald Trump’s White House bid, media reports said. Musk has said he plans to commit around USD 45 million a month to a new super political-action committee backing former President Donald Trump’s presidential run, people familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal.

Other backers of the group, called America PAC, include Palantir Technologies co-founder Joe Lonsdale, the Winklevoss twins, former US Ambassador to Canada Kelly Craft and her husband, Joe Craft, who is chief executive of coal producer Alliance Resource Partners, the newspaper reported.

As per a quarterly financial filing submitted to the Federal Election Commission, Musk has not given any money to the group till the end of June.

It is still not clear whether he has donated any month this month so far.

The super PAC, which was formed in late May, has received contributions from other high-profile entrepreneurs, including Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale and crypto billionaires Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, the filing showed as quoted by CNBC.

Musk on Saturday officially endorsed Trump, who has once again joined the presidential race, shortly after the former President escaped an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania.

What happened during the rally?

Former US President Donald Trump received injuries on his right ear during a Saturday election campaign rally at Pennsylvania’s Butler, in what is seen as an assassination bid that left the 78-year-old Republican presidential candidate’s face streaked with blood with his alert security agents rushing him off the stage even as he pumped his fist in the air, mouthing the words “Fight! Fight! Fight!”

The shooter, along with one bystander who was there to attend the rally, died.

As gunshots were heard, Trump, who was just six minutes into his election speech, was seen clutching a hand to his right ear, where blood was visible across his cheek and mouth.

Two other spectators were injured, the Secret Service said in a statement. The incident was being investigated as an assassination attempt.

Secret Service agents were quick to respond and surrounded Trump while escorting him off the stage, as he raised a fist to the crowd in defiance.
