The Great Indian Food Festival 2020 set to light up Deepavali in Singapore

Indian Restaurants Association Singapore is all set to celebrate Deepavali with the second edition of The Great Indian Food Festival from November 9-23. 

Supported by the Singapore Tourism Board, The Great Indian Food Festival showcases and promotes the  diversity and appreciation for Indian cuisine, incorporating elements of eat, play and learn. 

This year, the Festival will host a series of online events as well as home delivery with a greater spotlight on local businesses at some of the 12 partnering restaurants around Little India

One of the main highlights of The Great Indian Food Festival are Deepavali snack boxes, specially curated by Chef Milind Sovani which feature a healthy modern twist on classic Deepavali treats. These will include Dilkush Laddoo, Alphonso Mango and White Chocolate Barfi, Figs, Dates and Dry Fruits Barfi, Kaju Katli and Macha & Pistachio Stuffed Cashew Rolls. The savoury items will include roasted pepper cashew, roasted almonds and lentil coated masala peanuts.

Additionally, participants will get to taste unique dishes available only during Deepavali as well as learn more about spices and the history of Little India with partnering restaurants. Some of the participating restaurants include – Ananda Bhavan Special, Gayatri Restaurant, Jaggi’s, Komala Vilas and Muthu’s Curry.

There will also be a live demonstration by Chef Milind Sovani on Facebook where he will share tips on preparing Indian cuisine and insights into the symbolism of food during Deepavali.
