In a bid to boost tourism, the UAE’s Federal Authority of Identity and Citizenship has announced that people travelling to the country need not pay visa fees for dependents aged 18 years or below.
However, the fee exemption will only be applicable for a limited period between July 15 and September 15 every year.
The UAE Cabinet had taken the decision in September 2018 and this will be the first year of its implementation.
The usual cost for a 14-day express visa is about AED497 per head while a 30-day multi-entry tourist visa costs AED917 if the traveller purchases it online.
UAE residents can now also renew the residency visas of their 18-year-old dependents, whether they are secondary school or university graduates, for up to two consecutive years.
